I got a few small orders under my belt, which in turn lifted my spirits a bit, and has boosted me off my butt to complete a few projects that I had been procrastinating about. I also finished designing the wooden spool series of the Bird Barrel Bungalows and built three display units. I put the prices up for them on the website and now I just have to download a photo so people can see what they look like. I finished upgrading several pages on the website including the Drip Irrigation Kit page. It now shows two different kits. One for row crops and one for landscape. I'm putting to some use what ever I had at the old shop and display yard and finding a place for them here. I have yet to put up the pole mounted bungalow and my odd shaped magazine and newspaper holder.
I started to saturate the kenton neighborhood with rainbarrel Man fliers. It's a good way to get to know the area and the people. The main idea is that it will bring me leads. As I walk the walk I notice that there are pockets of yards where people are trying to up grade and use the latest green technologies. I see different kinds of rain barrels some DIY and some not. The downtown area has a new green streetscape, the best that I have seen anywhere else in portland. Here is something for my efforts......... I just recieved a call from a neighbor that wants to bring a group of friends to the shop on the 5th of March and talk about harvesting rain. That should be fun.
So now I need to start building up my supply little by little as I get orders. I dont think that this year is going to be as busy as last year and that in it's self might be a god send because my helper is going to be pursuing other interests soon and I will be on my own once again. I started this company when I was 49, and now I am 62. I hope to start collecting my SSI soon and continue to work building rain barrels for a few more years. Because the shop and yard are larger now, it wont be as crowded and I can build two or more barrels instead of just one. So even if I do get real busy It wont be as bad with the added room. I wonder what next month will bring.
